COT Report Heatmap: Futures Positioning, Decoded
Explore the free Commitments of Traders (COT) report heatmap. See how commercials, large speculators, and small speculators are positioned across futures within a one- or three-year score range.
How to Read the COT Report Heatmap
The CFTC normally releases its weekly report on Friday, reflecting Tuesday’s positions; holidays may delay publication. A cell's 0–100 score rescales the current raw net position between the minimum and maximum observed in the latest 156 weekly reports. For specs, 0 is the lowest and 100 the highest; 50 is halfway between them—not an average, percentile, probability, forecast, or trade signal. Commercial scores are display-inverted so 100 means most hedged.
green = more long exposure than usual for that group
red = less long exposure than usual
Commercial scores are inverted, so a higher commercial score means more hedged and therefore less long exposure.
